The Oxford Business Law Blog is launching the ‘European Commission Initiative on Directors' Duties and Sustainable Corporate Governance Series’ or, for brevity, ‘the EC Corporate Governance Initiative Series’. This new series of blog posts covers the recently released ‘Study on directors’ duties and sustainable corporate governance’ prepared by Ernst & Young for the European Commission. The study promises to be highly relevant for future EU policymaking in the area of corporate governance. Topics include directors’ duties, the company’s purpose, corporate disclosures, executive compensation, and engagement with stakeholders. Furthermore, following the closure of the public consultation on these policy options on 8 October 2020, the European Commission is expected to issue proposals for specific changes at the beginning of 2021 at the latest.

We warmly invite all authors, recurring or new to the OBLB, to submit posts to be included in our new series. We have chosen not to enforce any exclusivity policy and, subject to mentioning prior publication on the blog, the pieces we feature may be republished, or may have been published, on other platforms. For further information and guidance, you may refer to our submission guidelines and our submission template. On receipt of a contribution, we will forward it to our academic editorial board for further review. Should you have any further questions, do not hesitate to contact us at oblb@law.ox.ac.uk
