This post introduces a new series of posts on the Oxford Business Law Blog based on contributions to the ‘The Law and Finance of Private Equity and Venture Capital’ conference that took place in Oxford on 22–23 June 2023.

The conference was organized by the Faculty of Law of the University of Oxford, the LawFin Center at the Goethe University in Frankfurt, the LSE Law School, and the Institute for Law & Economics at the University of Pennsylvania, along with the Oxford Business Law Blog and ECGI. The focus of the conference was on academic research, with participation from relevant practitioners, industry representatives, and policymakers. The conference highlighted interdisciplinary research in the field of private equity (PE) and venture capital (VC), broadly defined, including topics such as PE/VC and corporate law, governance of PE/VC-backed firms, regulation of PE/VC funds, social startups in the VC industry, ESG/sustainability in PE, and comparative PE/VC law.
