EC Corporate Governance Initiative Series: ECGI Policy Workshop on ‘Directors' Duties and Sustainable Corporate Governance’
In recent weeks, the Oxford Business Law Blog has been featuring a series of blog posts covering the recently released ‘Study on directors’ duties and sustainable corporate governance’ prepared by Ernst & Young for the European Commission (‘the EY Study’) and the European Commission consultation on sustainable corporate governance.
On the Oxford Business Law Blog and elsewhere, the EY Study has stimulated a lively discussion about the impact of short-termism. Many of the responses to the EY Study and the European Commission’s consultation have urged policymakers to consider the full extent of the existing literature and established findings on the relevant topics.
In an effort to address the identified gaps and contribute to the current policy debate, ECGI will convene leading scholars in an online workshop format as part of its ‘Full Picture’ series of policy workshops, to discuss issues related to the EY Study, across three days on 11-13 November 2020. Following an initial presentation of the report, ECGI research members will then discuss the topics covered by the report and the policy options currently being considered by the European Commission. Further information about the workshop and online registration are available here.
