Turning Migrants into Criminals in the US

A report released last week by Human Rights Watch, Turning Migrants into Criminals, describes the human cost of practices of border control in the USA. Drawing on 191 interviews with migrants and their attorneys, the report raises particular concerns about the separation of family members caused by a rapid growth in federal prosecution of immigration offenses. The report includes a number of recommendations for Congress, the US Department of Justice and US Customs and Border Control. The report can be found in full here.
