Centre student wins John Sunley Prize

One of the Centre's DPhil students, Shona Minson, was awarded the John Sunley Prize by the Howard League for Penal Reform at a reception at the Houses of Parliament on 4 July. Her work on 'Mitigating Motherhood: A study of the impact of motherhood on sentencing decisions in England and Wales' will be published by the Howard League in the autumn.

The John Sunley Prize was established by the Howard League to reward and encourage Masters students who generate outstanding research dissertations that often are both topical and original. Each year three prizes are awarded, and each of the winning dissertations is printed as a monograph and published by the Howard League for Penal Reform.
